The genre that I chose, which is Sufi Pop has an audience that is very niche as not everybody is interested in this genre. The survey that we did about the music video showed that majority of the people who were interested in watching a Sufi music video belonged to an age group that ranged from early teenagers to much older people approximately from 15-40 years old
Before designing a media product it is extremely important to analyse the market to get a better understanding of what is demanded from the producers. This helps the producers and gives them a sense of direction. The market is divided into two broad segments; Demographics and Psychographics.
DEMOGRAPHICS A demographic profile is a term used in marketing and broadcasting, to describe a demographic grouping or a market segment. This usually involves the age, gender, ethnicity etc of the audience. The demographics of Sufi pop is very vast. It attracts people from both genders and from a different range of age groups. It is mainly heard by people from the East and is not a commonly heard genre globally. When it comes to the social class of the target audience, this genre is appreciated more by the middle and upper class of the community. PSYCHOGRAPHICS On the other hand, Psychographics is the study of personality, values, opinions, attitudes, interests, and lifestyles. Therefore, psychographics tell us the dreams, aspirations, hopes and desires of a certain demographic. Sufi Rock is likely to be heard by people who have a certain degree of interest in the cultural norms and values. Interest in this genre also depends on the personality, attitudes and interests of an individual which is different for everybody. Lifestyle may also play a role as mentioned above in the demographics. People that belong to the upper or middle class are more likely to be interested in this type of music. The main aim of taking the survey for our music video was to find out what our target audience would prefer to see. It would help us get a sense of direction about whether to go with a narrative, concept, performance based video etc. It would help us with many other things as well for example it'll help us know what age group our music video's target audience is.

The genre that i have selected to work on is "Sufism". Sufism is something that we can relate to much more than any other genre. We have a good understanding about the codes in conventions of sufism. Classical Sufi scholars have defined Sufism as "a science whose objective is the reparation of the heart and turning it away from all else but God". Sufism is known all around the world. The spread of Sufism has been considered a definitive factor in the spread of Islam, and in the creation of integrally Islamic cultures, especially in Africa and Asia. The song that we have chosen is "Noor-e-Khuda" which is a sufi pop song. There are many prominent artists of this genre such as Atif Aslam, Asrar, Junoon etc. This will be a very interesting task for us and we are looking forward to it.
